#THISISWHATMAKESUS (also included: Zalora review)

Two weeks ago, I had a tragic experience with my Midterm exams. The first subject we took after the Sinulog street party—mind you, I went home at 4am in the morning—was Thermodynamics II; I had so little time to study, so little that I can’t fit my hangover excuse to procrastinate things—I had to sober up real quick and study. As I took the exam, I was tortured to death in the second part because it was loaded with problems I can’t even solve. I was so unprepared, for once, I thought I won’t graduate two years after—which was a premonition of that moment when I found out I failed the exam. I wasn’t that far from the passing grade though and I didn’t feel bad about it because I kind of saw it coming. If I could’ve studied hard, I would’ve slayed that exam. One thing I can say to myself after that experience, TIME MANAGEMENT: It is of high importance in this phase of my life right now; not all the time I can have fun and forget my responsibilities, not all time internet should be placed first before education because what I’m dealing with, right now, is my future.

Ever since that epic stunt, I wake up with a constant reminder of what is really needed to be done; and that I can’t have too much fun without having dealt with reality. There has to be balance out of everything and there is always time for things to fall into its place. Don't you just wish we all have a stop button, where when we feel like the need to reconnect with ourselves and the people around us—it is just there waiting to be pressed; like the world would stop and just respect the fact that we're having a hard time taking it all in—oh gosh this is getting too sentimental—and I think that stop button do exist, it just differs from person to person. My stop button is totally shopping, I know its so cliché but, to be honest, it really is my coping mechanism. I am the kind of person who doesn't really do well with crowds, I really don't like attention because I will eventually become anxious with that and I would just be a nervous wreck, so when it comes to shopping, I really prefer it online because who doesn’t like it when you get to browse the item you’re interested in as many times as you want; you don’t even get a sales representative to ask you this, to let you buy that, they won’t even give you that overwhelming sales-representative stare that just makes shopping seems like a nightmare; so whoever pioneered “online shopping” has got more than his share of this personal struggle.

Ever since the dawn of internet civilization, everything is accessible online—everything is literally in the palm of your hand; and throughout the years, the internet paved a way for shopping to be online—millions of brands are readily sold online nowadays. If you have a budding business, posting it in the internet makes the world so much easier and you’re investments will be totally ricocheted in less than two years, or so. The button-down shirt I’m wearing in this post is actually from an online store here in Southeast Asia called Zalora. The first time I came across with this online store was from an Internet ad, I wasn’t really into it at first because it wasn’t really well known at that time. My sister bought our gift to our mom for Christmas in Zalora and that was the same time I thought, “Why not give it a try?” So After having heard great about it from my sister, I then ordered myself two button-down shirts from them, it was on sale from Php700+ to Php200+ and it was a totally great deal. The best part in checking out though was their payment options; I’m not a fan of sending money first before acquiring the products that I ordered online, I have trust issues when it comes to those things. Usually if I buy from an online seller which I still don’t know yet, I would end up annoying them because I feel so uneasy if I don’t get the tracking number at the end of the day or if it is already past its ETA—I mean, I’m an annoying customer and online sellers that have come across with me knows the struggle far too well but I’m just being a basic cautious customer. The difference with Zalora is that it offers a payment option where you can pay upon delivery and it is totally hassle-free and minimizes the online shopping expenses far lesser than the average cost of online shopping; and to you my fellow anxious online shoppers, Zalora has this brilliant idea of allowing their delivery man to message you about your package’s current situation—they keep you up to date and will keep your worries at bay.

On to the Zalora product that I’ve received: I really like the packaging they sent me, it was clean—if without the dirty storage marks—and understated in a good way. The clothes were encased in plastic, when I opened it all I see were just fold marks on the clothes and if ever wrinkles were there, they were just minimal to nonexistent. On the sizing, they offer you this size chart online and are very accurate on the sizing of their clothes; my tip: when you measure your bust make sure you breathe in so that you will get the maximum size of your chest area—for me its really important because I don’t like it when I feel suffocated in a shirt. Other than the product that you’ve ordered, you also get to have a gift card for your next purchase, it wasn’t that much of a discount but you really can feel the thoughtfulness and generosity from the Zalora team they have for you.

Overall, I must say, Zalora hasn’t disappointed me in their first try. Their service was fast and hassle free; the products are what they are as seen online (but not the colors though because they differ in computer screens than in real life) and their products are budget-friendly. I recommend it to online-shopping virgins out there; it is totally worth the money.

DISCLAIMER: I wasn't sponsored to do this. The contents here in this blog post is my honest opinion of the online shopping brand.
