What Happened to my sinulog 2015?

Sinulog Festival is celebrated to honor the miraculous Santo Nino. Generations after generations, it has always been a part of every Christian catholic family to celebrate Sinulog Festival and shout the most famous chant, "Pit Senyor!" It has become customary to Cebuanos, especially the young, to party along the streets of Mango Avenue because it is where most of the clubs are located and it is one of the routes of the street dance. So, what happened to my Sinulog 2015? I think my pictures are enough to prove that I've had the best Sunday so far in my 2015, since Sinulog is celebrate every 3rd Sunday of the month of January. It was a night to remember and for me, a night to break free after such a tiring midterm week but for some of my friends: it was a calm before the midterm week, how ironic!

Tips in celebrating Sinulog Festival:

1. Celebrate it with friends. Sinulog is ten times better when spent with groups of people you know very well and can keep up with such vibrant energy.
2. Be friendly even if you don't feel like it because Sinulog is an event to socialize and if you feel like you don't like seeing a relative don't worry they won't probably notice you because your face is covered with face paint.
3. Bring lightweight camera, in my case, a gopro, to record videos and take photos of the fun. Don't bring DSLRs because it is such a pain in the ass, I mean who wants to party with a dead weight in hand? You won't be able to "fist pump" without sending you DSLR up in the air and landing in somebody else's face. Ouch. And you have something to wake up to besides a hangover.
4. Buy a big-ass bottled-water, there are vendors along the streets selling huge bottled-water at cheap, unusual prices! So grab the chance! And don't waste it by splashing it all over the people because you might need it to wash off the paint off of your face.
5. WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES AND SHOES, I MEAN IT! Wear lightweight fabrics because you tend to get soaked in either water or liquor and you got nothing to choose from because someone else will be throwing anything out there but no, not urine, or flying empty glass bottles of liquors. And the shoes are the most important because you have to walk a mile in order to get to the fun because there's no transportation that can reach close enough to your destination.
6. DO NOT WEAR ANYTHING THAT IS YOUR FAVORITE. No, not your favorite tank top because it is figure-flattering; No, not your limited edition Jordans because you just bought them; and No, not your favorite shorts because it makes your ass look big. In my case, I have worn my favorites and ended up regretting wearing those because everyone out there is throwing paint everywhere and some of them throw fabric paints.
7. DO NOT GET WASTED TOO EARLY you don't know what you're missing out there! And you'll end up either with no money or out the streets in daylight, post-sinulog--who does that?
8. Wear closed shoes because there are lots of broken bottles out the streets, you don't want to have a boo boo and end up canceling the night off because of a huge bloody wound--I see a glass splinter in their, ew.
9. Bring bags that are small and motion-friendly because you have to dance the night away.
10. Bring enough money but not too small because the prices tend to turn into "dollars" during Sinulog street parties. Not literal dollars, just overpriced ratings in pesos.
11. EXPECT lots of peoples, lots of walkings, and crunched-up streets like as if you're a sardine--and no not stampedes.
12. DO NOT WEAR FULL-COVERAGE MAKEUP they don't have power in this event.
13. BE MINDFUL of your belongings because once lost... is never found.
14. BE YOUNG, BE WILD, AND FREE.
15. ENJOY! Don't be a pooper, if you are mad or if somebody is, shout to yourself or to him/her "Pit Senyor!" and your or his/her mood will lighten in just an instant because it is Sinulog anyways.

With these tips, it'll surely make your Sinulog Festival way better than mine! See you next year in this festive event that'll live you hanging 'till-- I don't know when. lol
