Travel Diary: Negros Oriental

Pulangbato Falls located at Valencia, Negros Oriental. |
The falls with all its glory and it is just completely breathtaking. The falls is located at Ocoy Valley, a town in Valencia Negros Oriental and it is named aptly after its surrounding rocks: "Pulangbato". Dissecting the Bisaya word "Pulangbato", we get two words namely "Pula" and "Bato"; "Pula" in English is red and "Bato" is rock so "Pulangbato" is equivalent to Red Rock in English.
The falls has its mini version perched at the top of the main falls. I don't know if it was accessible, I never asked anyway but if it were, I would've climbed it just to get a better view of the falls.
The cascading iron water is surrounded by lush forest that makes it look enchanting and very mysterious. It makes you wonder if Tarzan ever lived there. What I love about this place was that it was never turned into a commercialized spot, they really preserved the falls leaving it just the way it was.
This is the way to the falls, it's a short rocky walk but my advice is go barefoot because chances are you'll slip and that's the last thing you would not want to happen. The picture below, my sister and mom walking the rocky terrain and if they can do it, sure can you!
As what my cousin said, the reason why they have this machine here is because the falls was destroyed by a typhoon.
The water from the falls will make their way into this rocky river that will soon turn the water clear as it travels through. And part of the reason why these rocks are red is because of iron and it smells like rust within the perimeter of the falls. My other advice: don't wear white because it will totally turn orange though it will eventually wash out if you get it laundered. It is so ironic how the place was named "Pulangbato" when the rocks are more like in an orange shade.

Go barefoot! |
The day after our visit to Pulangbato Falls, we went to Dauin, Negros Oriental to explore deep wonders. It's just a sanctuary, but not your ordinary sanctuary. These are some of the fishes in the sanctuary that are really not camera shy--or maybe I'm just that lucky and a "Fish" favorite. I won't say much on this part of the journey because the pictures say it all.
